Trojan horses for the Mac
The common mythology of the Mac, and one of the reasons it is so cool, is we tend to fly below the radar of Trojan horses and viruses and all those bad things out there in the world of the web. Executable files? Hah, doesn’t work on us.
But apparently there is now a real Trojan Horse out in the wild, so to speak. It isn’t just that it affects Macs, as well as PCs. In fact, it only affects Macs. It is aimed at Macs. We have hit the big time. Oh no.
Now, the good news, if there is good news, is that it is only going after people who visit a particular porn site. I guess they figure that most people don’t want to admit that they visited a porn site, and tried to view the videos, and that was how they got infected. It is a bit on the embarrassing side.
So, these people, who wrote the code specifically for Macs, didn’t just post the web site and hope Mac people would stumble upon it, they heavily spamed for it, hoping to catch Mac people in their web.
Sort of makes you feel special, doesn’t it, to know that they wanted to go after only 8 percent of the computer users. This has what has been protected us, because our ranks were so low. But now that Apple is selling more Macs, we get the bad and well as the good.
Just remember, don’t click on things that you don’t know where they have been.
