Microsot is losing market share…at least with IE

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. If you aren’t using FireFox, then you should be. When I hear people talking about how awful IE is, or how they hate spyware, or what awful thing has come in because of IE, I tell them about FireFox.

And apparently I am not the only one. According to a story in the Mercury News, Microsoft’s market share is slipping. Not much, but down to 92.9 percent (down from 95 percent). This sounds similar to the sort of market share Apple has to Microsoft. But Firefox is planning to bring the difference down to 90 percent. And with their wonderful browser, I can’t see why they won’t.

One of the features I love is their pop-up blocker, that keeps most, if not all, pop-ups from popping, and then FireFox lest you know it happened, just in case you did want this particular pop-up. IE doesn’t have that, nor does it have tabs, which most other browsers have incorporated into their design.

For Mac users thought, it is even more imperative to find something other than IE, as Microsoft has abandoned us with version 5.0, and 5.0 doesn’t work with much anymore. Hmm, perhaps that is where the percentage is coming from, since Macs are only 3 or 4 percent of the market right now.
